Looking for something fun to do this 4th of July weekend? Here are some great ideas!

Hartland Hometown Celebration: This is a great family friendly event that would make for an extra fun weekend! It runs Friday from 4-9 pm, Saturday from 8:30-9 pm, and Sunday from 12-9 pm. On Friday, there will be arts and crafts available for the kids, as well as access to the Beer Garden. Food and beverages will be available throughout the night. Make sure you stay for the fireworks celebration Friday night! The Lake Country Beer Garden is open all 3 days. A family 5K run/walk is happening on Saturday, registration is required so sign up to secure your spots! There is a Hometown Celebration Parade in downtown Hartland on Sunday at 1:30 pm.

Food Truck Friday: Every Friday through Labor Day from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm is Food Truck Friday at the Waukesha County Airport! During Food Truck Fridays, the Waukesha County Airport hosts local food trucks next to the terminal. Entry is free and the event is family friendly! Come out and enjoy some great food from the Gouda Girls this Friday!

Waukesha’s Friday Night Live: This is a great family event that occurs every Friday through August! The streets are shut down at 6:30 pm and the event runs until 9:00 pm! Kids can run through the streets, dancing and playing. It is a great way to relax with family and friends on a Friday night, grab something to eat, and listen to some music!

Concert at the Beer Garden – Menomonee Falls: This is a FREE family friendly event. It runs on both Thursday and Friday, as long as the weather permits. The event runs from 5 – 9 pm and is located at Mill Pond Park. The concerts are from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursdays and 6:30 – 9 pm on Fridays. Activities are available for the kids. There is food and beverages available, but it’s cash purchase only! The entertainers this weekend are Peter Mac on Thursday and Kenny James on Friday.

Starry Nights at the Wilson Center: This is an ongoing event that is a series of outdoor concerts, which are performed at the Gerlach/Haack Outdoor Theatre. Lawn seating is available, so grab your chairs and blankets and come grab your spot! Food and Beverage is available for purchase. This Friday’s entertainer is Jason Gillette and the Showtime Big Band. Click the link for more information!

Bats and Brews: This is a free family friendly event at 8 pm at Muskego Park. Parents can purchase a beer and then head onto the trails with the kids for a bat survey with local conservation biologists! Click the link for more information.


June 29

Independence Day Run: There are 3 runs available this week! There is a 10K, 5K, and a 1K kids run. The best part: the kids run is free! Sign up is required so click the link to secure your spot!

City of Oconomowoc 4thof July Fireworks: It’s that time of the year! Fowler Lake in Oconomowoc will be launching their fireworks at dusk, which has typically been around 9:30 pm in the past. There is a 4thof July Parade through downtown Oconomowoc earlier in the day. So come out and enjoy the parade, then grab some refreshments while watching live entertainment until the firework show over the lake!

Farmers Market: Looking for some fresh produce and flowers? Or a great way to start your Saturday morning? Look no further! Summer Saturdays are the time for farmers markets! Grab your friends, or your family, and make your way to the Waukesha, Oconomowoc, Sussex, West Allis, or Hartford farmers market!

Read-A-Palooza: Are your kids fans of Dog Man or Clifford? Then bring them on down to Books & Company in Oconomowoc from 9:30 am – 12pm. There will be specials guests Dog Man and Clifford, and they will be offering photo opportunities! There will be readings of Dog Man and Clifford stories! This is a fun event for the kiddos, and even the parents too!

Okauchee American Legion Car Show: This is a free family friendly event that runs from 9 am – 3 pm. There will be raffles, food and beverages available for purchase, and live entertainment. There is a registration fee if you would like to display your unique car, but entrance for all others is free!

Historic Beer Brewing at Old World Wisconsin: This is a family friendly event happening at a local gem in Eagle. There is a fee, but it’s well worth it! Old World Wisconsin is partnering with the Museum of Beer and Brewing. Come out and see the brewers use previous brewing techniques using hops and barley grown right there at Old World Wisconsin!
